| Q1 How do I stop = signs appearing in my post? |
A1 - Make sure you have your mail programme set to Plain Text with Quoted Printable switched off.
In Microsoft Outlook Express go to In Microsoft Outlook go to TOOLS- OPTIONS- MAIL FORMAT - MESSAGE FORMAT make sure that Send Plain Text is showing. Click on SETTINGS and in the drop down box make sure it says NONE. That should solve the problem. Other mail programmes have similar settings. For AOL and Incredimail you need to use plain text - no colour - no backgrounds no fancy fonts. See also www.expita.com/nomime.html |
| Q2 - How do I make a signature file? |
A2 - Depends upon your mailer but most of them except AOL you can make your email address "blue" and clickable by typing it in this format Make sure that there are no spaces In Microsoft Outlook Express go to TOOLS - STATIONERY -SIGNATURE -TEXT ********************************************* AOL V6 Instructions on the MAC AOL (don't know if PC is the same) Other AOL software look at the Unofficial AOL FAQ |
| Q4 - How do I include part of a message in my answer? |
A4 - There are several ways - but for the list the safest way is the usual Windows facility of Copy and Paste. Highlight the text you want to include by holding down the left mouse button and dragging across the text. Then with the text still highlighted go Edit - Copy (this puts the text on an invisible clipboard within the computer). You can now start a new message to the Bichon List BICHONFRISE-L@APPLE.EASE.LSOFT.COM and click in the box where you will write your new message. Then go Edit - Paste and the text should appear. If you use the "Reply To" facility - and your mail programme is set to include the message you are answering - you must cut out everything that you don't want to include by highlighting the text and using the delete key. In both instances you need to copy or type in the relevant subject line. |
| Q5 - How do I change my subscription from/to digest? |
A5 - Send a message to LISTSERV@APPLE.EASE.LSOFT.COM saying SET BICHONFRISE-L DIGEST or SET BICHONFRISE-L NODIGEST No subject is required and there should be nothing else in the message ie no signature file. |
| Q6 - How can I put my mail on hold for a while? |
A6 - Send a message to LISTSERV@APPLE.EASE.LSOFT.COM saying SET BICHONFRISE-L NOMAIL Note NOMAIL is one word. SET BICHONFRISE-L MAIL No subject is required and there should be nothing else in the message ie no signature file. |
